The Kone Direct Drive is an innovative escalator drive system designed for heavy use. This drive uses up to 20% less electricity than a conventional drive. Kone is proud of its eco-efficiency in drives and they also boast of the increased safety of the unit. This direct drive is also designed to be chainless. It’s connected straight to the main shaft which reduces the need for maintenance and spare parts but also avoids chain failure.
The Kone KDL16S elevator drive has been designed to replace the old fleet of Kone V3F16S drives. This unit has full refurbishment capability, so we can diagnose, repair, and test the drive, and ensure it functions when we reinstall it.
The KDL16S uses encoder feedback and independent brake control, giving greater efficiency, and a smooth user experience. Unlike other elevator drives, the main braking resistor is integrated into the body of the drive to reduce the carbon footprint of the drive.
Once repaired, we thoroughly test the Kone drives, performing over a hundred cycles on our custom-built service simulation test rig. We make sure our high standards of service, and repair reliability are the focus of all our repair work.
